Student researcher

A student researcher is an individual who participates in research for a certain period under the guidance of a research supervisor with the aim of acquiring knowledge in their major or obtaining a degree, and receives training while working on tasks such as writing papers. Student researchers include trainees, cooperative program students, specialized program students, and field practice students.

Trainee

A trainee is a student enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral program at an affiliated university (excluding those on leave of absence or graduates who are not registered as research students) who participates in funded research projects and conducts research training. This program allows students to attend classes at the university while simultaneously engaging in research activities at the research institute.

Hiring Period: 6 times a year / Hiring takes place in January, March, May, July, September, and November

Collaborative University-Institute Program Trainee (Master's and Doctoral Programs)

A collaborative university-institute program trainee is a student currently enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program at an affiliated university (excluding those on leave of absence or graduates who are not registered as research students) who participates in funded research projects and conducts research training. This program allows students to attend classes at the university while simultaneously engaging in research activities at the research institute. .

Hiring Period: First Term - September / Second Term - April

※ Please note that KIST is not responsible for the final selection; it only issues recommendation letters. Students must apply for university admission based on the issued recommendation letter and must ultimately be accepted to qualify as collaborative university-institute program trainees.

Credit-Acquisition Field Internship

This program is offered to undergraduate students in their 3rd and 4th years who are interested in graduate school and student researcher positions. In the case of credit-bearing field practice courses, research experience and mentoring are provided, and the practical experience the students obtain from the respective university is recognized as academic credit.

Internship Period: First Semester, Second Semester, Winter Vacation, Summer Vacation
